Brazilian Music in Four Films

Why a French filmmaker spent 16 years in Brazil and could produce four films about the MPB – Musica Popular Brasileira ?
Filmmaker Georges Gachot felt in love with Brazilian music after assisting a concert of the Singer Maria Bethânia at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1998. in 2003 Bethânia watched his film about Argentinian pianist Martha Argerich and proposed Gachot to come to Rio de Janeiro to film the recording of her new album about Vinicius de Moraes. It was the very first time that Gachot ever travelled to Brasil and it was the beginning of a passionate and joyful adventure in the rich and prolific world of the MPB – Musica Popular Brasileira.
